Pernell Callaghan is one of the Co-Founders and Managing Directors of Finbase, a private credit institution focused on mortgage-backed lending and delivering reliable, risk-adjusted returns. With over a decade of experience in property development, trading, and financial structuring, he combines on-the-ground expertise with strategic leadership.

He previously founded and exited one of New Zealand’s largest second-mortgage lenders, managing $100m+ in assets. Pernell also founded Arizto Real Estate, a national technology-enabled agency with over 400 staff. Having personally traded 50+ residential properties, he now leads Finbase’s strategy, partnerships, and capital raising as it scales toward market leadership.

Hayden is a Co-Founder and Managing Director of Finbase, bringing deep, hands-on experience from the frontline of New Zealand’s property market. He began his career as a qualified electrician before moving into property investment, where he built a track record buying, renovating, and selling residential and commercial assets.

Through completing more than 60 property projects, Hayden successfully raised capital and developed trusted relationships with agents, valuers, developers, and private investors - several of whom went on to become early backers of Finbase.

At Finbase, Hayden oversees business operations and closely monitors credit and loan approvals, applying a rigorous, real-world approach to risk assessment.

John is a highly experienced financial services executive with over 40 years in the industry. He brings deep expertise across investment management, regulatory strategy, strategic marketing, and business transformation, with a strong focus on customer outcomes and long-term value creation.

Throughout his career, John has played a pivotal role in shaping the direction of financial services in New Zealand — from co-founding successful businesses to leading major industry initiatives and advising on regulatory change. As Strategic Board Advisor, he provides Finbase with high-level guidance, drawing on decades of leadership and insight to support sustainable growth and sound governance.

Todd is a wholesale funding and securitisation professional with more than 30 years experience funding and managing non-banks.

He has held roles of Group Treasurer and CFO in large non-banks in the USA, Europe and Australia and has securitised all major asset classes in several jurisdictions, including New Zealand.

Rhys leads our risk and compliance team at Finbase, ensuring robust frameworks are in place to support our continued growth and regulatory responsibilities. With experience across funds management, property, and financial services, he brings deep expertise in operational risk, compliance systems, and governance.

He has held leadership roles across both New Zealand and Australian markets, including oversight of licensed entities, AML/CFT regimes, and regulatory reporting. Rhys plays a critical role in safeguarding the way we work and ensuring we continue to meet the highest standards of integrity and trust.

Antje brings more than two decades of international experience across fund finance, treasury management, and audit within private debt, private equity, and real estate investment platforms.

Prior to joining Finbase, she served as Vice President of Finance at a U.S.-based investment manager overseeing multiple private debt and real estate funds. She led treasury operations across multiple banking relationships, managed fund-level liquidity and capital allocations, and oversaw investor capital calls and distributions to more than 1,000 high net worth investors. She also directed external fund audits and implemented treasury management systems to strengthen financial controls and reporting accuracy.

Brenda has over 20 years of experience across a broad range of property finance environments, with particular expertise in construction lending. Her experience includes credit assessment roles within a first-tier bank property finance unit, mezzanine and private equity firms, first mortgage construction funders, as well as national and multinational short and long-term lenders. She has also worked with government stakeholders to structure and arrange government-supported construction funding facilities.

At Finbase, she oversees property due diligence and credit risk assessments for residential, commercial, and rural loan opportunities, ensuring each loan aligns with our strict lending criteria.

Katrina is an experienced finance leader and Chartered Accountant, with a background across financial services and complex group structures. She has led finance functions with responsibility for financial control, reporting, and regulatory frameworks.

At Finbase, Katrina leads the finance function, overseeing financial reporting, planning, governance, and capital management. She works closely with the executive team to support decision-making and ensure the business operates with strong financial discipline as it continues to scale.

Jordan leads Finbase’s investor engagement and investment activity, playing a key role in the firm’s growth and investor relationships. He oversees investor acquisition and funding activity, works closely with management on strategic outcomes, and leads the Investment Managers to ensure a consistently high-quality investor experience.

With more than 16 years of experience across finance, technology, and sales, Jordan brings a strong relationship-led approach to investment management. He works closely with investors to understand their individual requirements, while guiding the Investment team to deliver trusted outcomes and sustained growth across the platform.

Matt is Head of Origination at Finbase, with more than a decade of experience across business development and lending in New Zealand. He brings deep expertise in the home loan and non-bank lending markets, with a strong track record of building trusted adviser relationships and driving sustainable, long-term growth.

At Finbase, Matt focuses on expanding strategic partnerships, supporting advisers with tailored lending solutions, and strengthening the firm’s market presence through a relationship-first approach.

Omali is an experienced Loan Management Officer with extensive banking experience in both New Zealand and international settings.

She manages the administration of all of Finbase's loans, effectively running our loan software system and ensuring all compliance requirements are met.

Omali holds international and domestic qualifications in Banking, Finance, and Financial Services specialising in Residential Lending.

Eliza plays a central role in Finbase’s investor operations, overseeing registry management, investor communications, and the integrity of investor data and reporting across the platform. She works closely with the finance, lending, and investment teams to ensure information flows accurately and efficiently, supporting disciplined relationship management at scale.

With over a decade of experience in senior operational and financial roles within New Zealand’s finance sector, Eliza brings strong capability in managing complex processes across growing organisations.

Tegan leads Finbase’s marketing team, where she oversees and has final sign-off on all marketing channels, ensuring information is accurate, engaging, and relevant.

Tegan’s marketing expertise is fundamental in generating a steady supply of quality investment opportunities.

She has a decade of hands-on experience in marketing, event management and customer service. In addition to this, she has recently completed her postgraduate studies in marketing at Auckland University of Technology.
